Why a Credential?

ICF Credentials are highly recognized coaching qualifications with credibility around the world. If you are serious about building or maintaining your coaching business and care for being part of a well-respected, self-regulating profession, you will be interested in gaining an ICF Credential.

There are three ICF Credentials: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC). Each credential requires a specific set of required hours of coach-specific training and coaching experience.

Benefits of an ICF Credential:

  • Enhances your credibility and reassures potential clients that you are an experienced and professional coach
  • Demonstrates that you have high professional standards
  • Demonstrates that you stand by a strong code of ethics
  • Demonstrates a high knowledge and skill level
  • Demonstrates that you take on-going professional development seriously
  • Develops you as a professional coach - to further enhance your skills
  • Brings personal satisfaction - in achieving a career goal
  • Brings personal satisfaction - in gaining a credential from the only internationally recognized independent coaching body
  • Reinforces the integrity of the coaching profession nationally and internationally

Francine Carter (United States)
"Renewing my PCC credential and working to attain my MCC is essential for advancement, growth and professionalism for me, my clients and the profession of coaching.  We must "walk our talk" in assisting our clients in excelling AND the coaching profession in excelling, credentialing is one way of doing so!"

Francine Carter (PCC), United States
 Dennis Jørstad (Norway)

"As a professional coach and active player in the Norwegian market I wanted to renew my credentials to support our profession and give my customers and fellow coaches a sign of professionalism. As coaches we all have a responsibility to crave for the highest professional standards."

Dennis Jørstad (PCC), Norway
 Joe Postiglione (United States)

"...I believe the public deserves to know how to separate those who say they are coaches, from those who actually are and have certifications and credentials to support it. A person who takes the time and effort to become a coach through an ICF accredited school and who has pursued credentialing through the ICF itself, has created a competitive differention for themselves against those that have not."

Joe Postiglione(PCC), United States
