Takes Two to Tango - Centrality of the Relationship
John Leary-Joyce (UK) - View bio.
Friday, December 4: 2-4 p.m./1400-1600
CCEU: .75 CC/.75 PD
"More than anything else, the Tango is about a connection, an empathy between two people, the need to embrace, to be together, and to escape, albeit for just a brief moment of time, and in that moment, to live a life time...Tango must be simply danced, with immense feeling, with a sense of energy flowing between the dancers. This energy grows or decreases as the music ebbs and flows. It is a private conversation, something to be quietly shared, not publicly displayed." Bruno E. Romero - Origins of Argentina Tango
With Tango, as in Coaching, this sensitive flow of communication through movement comes not from techniques but from the quality of contact. In both the leader creates the space where the follower wants to step into. This requires a high degree of personal presence, trust and openness on both sides.
In this presentation John Leary-Joyce will use the Tango partnership as a way of understanding the coaching relationship. He is totally passionate about the dance and a great coach who will introduce you to simple ways to use your body awareness to build rapport and give direction without words. You will experience the essence of leadership and "followership" through the music and steps of the Tango.
