Breakout Sessions
The following seven Areas of Focus will be offered at conference.
Please note that handouts and presentations are being posted with individual session descriptions when provided by presenters.
Coaching & Leadership - View sessions.
This area of focus calls coaches to step into and explore new paradigms required by leaders tackling the complexities facing us in the 21st Century. Coaching holds a dual role in shaping the path of leadership. First, coaches see the dilemmas faced by their clients and continuously engage with them in finding new insights and solutions for leadership. Second, coaches actively experience today’s leadership challenges in their own lives and businesses. Therefore, as coaches “living in it” and “shaping future leaders,” our current paradigms must be expanded and evolved to carry us and our clients forward.
Coaching & Organizations - View sessions.
This area of focus encompasses coaching and organizations in their global sense (i.e., not only corporations, but also governmental agencies, profit or non-profit organizations). The mission of internal and external coaches is to increase their relevance to the organizational context, as organizations make their journey through change and uncertainty. These sessions will provide an opportunity to question yourself; step out of content in order to address context and process; stretch from beliefs to ongoing learning and creative exploration; and challenge coaches on how to be in a place of constant change themselves. This is a learning journey to explore how we can enable the diversity of new approaches within the organizations we serve and equip them to face tomorrow’s challenges.
Science & Coaching - View sessions.
Building upon last year’s success, this area of focus provides a stronger, more powerful, and thought-provoking inquiry into coaching-related science and research worldwide. It is designed to expand coaching knowledge and results, and designed to appeal to coaches and researchers alike. The science and research presented will offer opportunities for personal challenge, knowledge application, validation of coaching, and professional growth through critical insights into the ever-evolving dance of life. These programs focus on two distinct, but interrelated research themes:
- General research on coaching: Research that is central to the evolution of coaching as a truly recognized profession with solid practical and theoretical foundations. It expands the horizons of practitioners of both coaching and research, offering knowledge that is current, relevant and useful.
- Specific research in science: Research that explores new frontiers of science such as the neurosciences and their impact upon our understanding of what it is to be human. This groundbreaking research profoundly influences the practice of coaching.
Mind, Body, Spirit Connection - View sessions.
This area of focus is a daring exploration into the interrelationships between our minds, body and spirit and the implications for coaching. Designed to be thought-provoking explorations, these presentations will challenge your assumptions and reshape how you think and practice the art of coaching. This area of focus also invites a new conversation on “wholeness,” including how to access and expand your own wholeness as a prerequisite for engaging your client’s wholeness. These sessions will also inspire and challenge participants to awaken to new levels of body/mind/spirit integration in their own lives as a way to be the change we wish to see in the world.
Impact in the World - View sessions.
This area of focus explores how coaches, both individually and collectively, can respond to the challenges that the world is facing today and make a difference so that they can leave behind a better world for future generations. There is a great need for change in how we as humans “BE” in the world. This provides individuals as coaches with an enormous opportunity to play an important role in envoking that change.
