Abstract

Competing in a dynamic business environment, seeking market opportunities, and increasing productivity have become the hallmarks of 21st century business. Those goals have cost corporations their culture and the loyalty and dedication of employees. Mergers, acquisitions, and de-acquisitions are forming companies with diverse cultures, leadership styles, and values. Learn how a 1920's global company is thriving and continues to transform itself with the objective of being the best company in the world. Come and discover how IBM is balancing return on investment (ROI) and return on people (ROP) by creating business transformation, innovation, and values.

Author Bios

PEGGY CLARKSON is IBM Program Director, Sales Competencies and Coaching. Peggy has spent thirty years with IBM working in a variety of technical, sales, marketing, internal consulting, and general business management assignments. In her current role in IBM learning, she has passion around sales, sales management and sales leadership talent. The assignment that led her to this transformational work in sales were Organization Leadership Consultant for IBM's Executive and Organization Development team where she worked with a subset of the top 300 senior executives in IBM on personal and organizational change.

SARA SMITH, Sales Transformation Manager, is a 26-year IBMer. In her current role, Sara speeds the integration of new behaviors through coaching executives, managers and teams in the IBM Americas sales organization. As a corporate coach Sara has designed a repeatable team coaching model for IBM coaches and is currently co-leading a global team to continue to clarify and expand coaching in IBM. She is passionate about the power of coaching to change corporate culture.

SUSAN VALDISERRI is an IBM Program Manager, Sales Coaching and Competencies. Susan has spent twenty years with IBM in various technical, marketing, consulting and management positions. As a high performance sales change agent Susan coaches sales executives, managers and teams, and develops and delivers learning offerings and coaching strategies to advance High Performance Sales initiatives. Susan applies her leadership and coaching experience from various business disciplines and academia to help clients develop higher emotional intelligence and leadership impact.
