Abstract

James explains that the body is the medium through which executives speak and listen, the home of their emotions, and how their habits get carried through time. It is core to Integral CoachingSM. In this session, participants will learn: the role of the body in developing relationships of mutual trust and respect; how to integrate body awareness into asking skillful questions; and ways to incorporate body-oriented practices into coaching programs.

Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will

  • Appreciate the central role of the body (both the coach's and client's) in developing a relationship of mutual trust and mutual respect.
  • Understand how to integrate an awareness of the body into the process of asking skillful questions, listening, and observing clients' response.
  • Recognize ways to incorporate body-oriented practices and exercises into coaching programs so that clients can truly "embody" new insights.
  • Develop methods for clients to discover for themselves the distinctive ways their bodies influence and are influenced by their thoughts, emotions, and moods.
  • Become aware of resources to further develop the art and science of including the body in executive coaching.

In summary, participants will be challenged, refreshed, and left with both new questions and tools they can immediately put to use themselves and with their clients.
