Abstract

As change agents, the most masterful coaches need to have change frameworks that are based on the developmental psychology of healthy and self-actualizing people rather than change models based on the old psychology models that assume people are broken, need fixing, need long-term exploration of the past for identifying sources of pain and trauma. In designing the Axes of Change, Dr. Hall and Michelle explored and researched how healthy, well, and sane people move through the stages of change to actualize their potentials and make their dreams come true. Using the stages of change and the mind-body-emotion states presupposed in them, the model offers the coach eight roles for supporting, nurturing, and facilitating effective and graceful change.

Objectives

  • Participants will learn the content/process distinction about the kinds of change, stages of change, levels of change, and mechanisms of change.
  • Participants will discover the eight experiential roles necessary for being an effective change agent and will be given an opportunity to understand how the fluid and dynamic dance occurs.
  • Participants will see a live demonstration of leading a person through a change and have the demonstration unpacked to identify the steps, stages, processes, the dance, etc.
  • Participants will receive a list of questions for each of the Axes of Change roles and positions and get a chance to experientially try them on in a role play situation with another.
