Abstract

So you think you know who your best prospects are and what your clients really think about coaching? Come play Coaches' Feud and compare your hunches to the latest hard facts.

This session will present highlights from the 2004 ICF survey of small business, professional and entrepreneur coaching clients. The Quiz Show format will demystify research and give you knowledge you can use in marketing and delivering your services. And more: you may win a prize!

Objectives

  • To share the latest ICF research findings about small business and professional coaching clients and prospects to support attendees' coaching practices and marketing efforts. Specifically, findings include the awareness prospects have about coaching, what they actually know about coaching, and what their attitudes are towards coaching.
  • How clients, and former clients, assess the competencies of their coaches and their overall satisfaction with the coaching experience.
  • Identify certain client characteristics which make for successful coaching relationships.
  • Demographic and other differences between different client groups
  • To build appreciation for research on coaching by demonstrating its practicality.
  • To present important research findings in a fun and lively manner

Author Bios

DIANNE STOBER, Ph.D., is a coach, researcher, and educator. She teaches and researches coaching at the Fielding Graduate Institute. She is the keynote speaker for the ICF's 2nd Coaching Research Symposium and has presented on coaching and research at the ICF, the American Psychological Association, the Professional Coaches and Mentors Association, and the Australian Evidence Based Coaching Conference. Dianne is co-editing the Evidence-Based Coaching Handbook with Anthony Grant, Ph.D., arriving Fall 2005.

RICHARD ZACKON specializes in business coaching in New York City and is an Adjunct Professor at NYU where he teaches and coaches. He brings many years of experience in advertising media and marketing research and holds degrees from Yale, Stanford and Fordham University School of Law. Richard chairs the ICF Research & Development Committee, is co-chair for the Conference Volunteers and served on the Nominations committee. He occasionally performs stand-up comedy. Audiences occasionally laugh.
