Abstract

There are disconnects between what we know about leadership and how we assess leaders. You know that doing too much of a good thing can turn strengths into weaknesses. And that mastering trade-offs and paradox is paramount. But our models and 360s haven't measured overkill or versatility—until now.

Author Bio

ROB KAISER, Director of Research & Development, has published and presented nationally on his scholarly and practical work about leadership, executive development, personality, and performance measurement. He is the coauthor, along with Bob Kaplan, of the Leadership Versatility Index 360° instrument (which was featured in the Summer 2003 issue of MIT's Sloan Management Review). Prior to joining Kaplan DeVries, Rob was an adjunct research scientist and research intern at the Center for Creative Leadership. In addition to directing Kaplan DeVries' research activities, Rob also consults to individual managers on their personal and professional development.
